This
is the most popular and most recognised ride on my layout. I like building
different and modern rides that not many people have a go at. It took
approximately a month to make, with painting taking up most of the time.
The
ride is scratched built with the base being made out of GRP covered in
plastic card, the rear arm is a machined piece of lexan, with the servo
motor being built into it, ball raced. The arm is machined aluminium with
a slot on one end for the micro servo slotted in to power the car frame.
The
power to the car frame is taken from a copper sluw ring and copper contacts.
The six car arms are ball raced so the ride moves and the cars frame is
spun, the cars flip/turn as per full size. The servo's are controlled
seperately, so you can change direction of both the main arm and the cars.
This allows you to alter/play with the ride in motion. The ride is lit
using grain of wheat bulbs for the spot light towers. Additional lights
on the back flash are LED's and the Top Buzz sign on the main arm is lit
using small LED's and a watch battery.
This
ride has been a great success and has got to be my favourite at the moment.
Everybody has been impressed by the looks and motion of the ride, including
Elliott Hall. It is always recognised at shows by both showmen and the
public.
