A
Brief History of John Eva who has made the 1/12 scale, scratch,
built models. John was born in Scunthorpe Lincolnshire, his
father and grand father were traveling showpoeple. John carried
on in the busines for many years, with a variation of amusements,
traveling in and around Lincolnshire
and Yorkshire. John also started, along with his brother George
selling Ex w.D. vehicles and breaking vehicles for spares,
so John has had a good working knowledge of the motar transport.
John
is now retired. It was through an accident that John had time
to spare, for a short time. John and his wife Elsie were looking
at some photos of the fairground transport they have had in
the past, a photo of their 24ft showmans living van turned
up and John said to Elsie that it would be nice to have a
model of it. Several months later a 1/2 scale model showmans
living van was produced and painted in pale blue and cream,
and just looks like the real thing. John's two sons never
expected the model to be finished, but it was. Later on John
made models of a 1946 A.E.C. matador, a box van with a full
load of fairground stalls ect in the back of it was made,
even the 9.6 diesal engine, with all the detail. The A.E.C.
model was painted in Red & Grey, exactly like the real
vehicle. John has now got a very good collection of models
all highly-detailed as you can see by the very nice photos
from John Eva.
